Harriet Luck is a British composer and percussionist based between the USA and UK. Passionate and versatile, she has composed music for films across genres and is an accomplished performer who brings a dynamic and exploratory approach to screen composition.

Harriet made her professional debut in Minneapolis after winning Film Score Fest competition in 2021. She is currently part of the SCL LA Mentor Program, has composed for workshops with the BBC Singers and the Castalian String Quartet, and has an album released with MPATH Music. This summer she premiered her first feature film, James, which was recorded with FAME’S Studio Orchestra.

Harriet’s musical journey, and love for sound, began on the marimba. Always drawn to storytelling, she loved writing her own books as a child, and thought she would become an author. At 14, she began her studies in Orchestral Percussion at Junior Trinity Laban Conservatoire, prior to which she had taught herself songs by ear. When diagnosed with a debilitating illness in her teens, she began to find solace in music, particularly through composing.

As a percussionist, Harriet has performed at the Cambridge International Jazz Festival with Dame Evelyn Glennie, and at highly acclaimed venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, and The Barbican. She won the Canterbury Young Musician competition, and was the principal percussionist for Katie Melua and the BBC Concert Orchestra, as part of the Silk Roads Project.

Harriet holds a BA in Music from the University of Oxford, where she was offered a scholarship in orchestral percussion at the Royal Academy of Music alongside her academic studies. She also holds an MM in Screen Scoring from New York University, where she was awarded the Alan Menken Scholarship, served as a graduate adjunct professor, and interned with MPATH Music.

Outside of music, she is a lover of animals, sweet treats, and exploring beautiful places.
